Canadian Fitness Education Services (CFES)
Group Fitness Certification Course

Perfect for those looking to begin or broaden their leadership in the fitness industry, this course teaches the practical skills and professional ethics required to be a successful group fitness instructor. Attendees will learn how to program plan for all class sections and fitness levels in a safe and caring atmosphere, as well as proper use of space, group formations and/or choreography skills. Stability ball, step, and free weight exercise ideas/techniques in both high and low impact situations will also be taught. This course will provide ample teaching opportunities throughout the course itself and supplemental practicum components. Please note that upon successful completion of the course, attendees will be required to schedule practical hours with the instructor; additional fees (approx. $125) will be required for the course’s practical component.

Attendees do not have to be a UBC students to attend this course. It is open to anyone who is interested in becoming a group fitness instructor; however, all registrants must have completed at least 1 year of a kinesiology/physiology program (including basic anatomy) OR the CFES Fitness Theory Course.

Fees: UBCO Students $450 | Public/Non-UBC students $500

Fees include: course instruction, books, and the CFES Exam fee.
Fees do not include: practical assessment fees, payable to instructor upon completion of the course (approx $125)
